Nightshade: The beginning of eradication

09/02/09  ||  theProphet

Ah, Rising Records. If there ever was a big fucking warning flag in metal, then it would be said label. Actually, the warning flag might not be in metal, but more like on the outskirts of the metal kingdom. Come to think of it, perhaps Rising Records is not so much a warning flag as a gargantuan sign saying:

BEWARE! FOR THOU LEAVETH NOW THE REALM OF METAL.”

That would be awesome, because then you would just be able to turn around and say “I want no part in this” but sadly, I am forced to have a part in their malicious work.

That said, I’d probably put Nightshade at the top of all the Rising artists I’ve had the displeasure of encountering thus far, altough with competition such as Mendeed and Nex, that really doesn’t say very much. For starters, there thankfully aren’t any of those clean vocal ear-rapes on “The Beginning of Eradication”. Nightshade also manages to throw in a couple of groovy riffs and some sweet black metalish melodies from time to time. There’s no doubt that these guys are accomplished musicians.

Any shot Nightshade would have at earning their spurs as knights of metal is ruined by the incredibly sterile production, though. I’d say that the drumming is good, but I honestly can’t be sure that it’s a real person playing, cause you sure as fuck can’t tell by just listening to the shit. After doing some quick research at Metal Archives it appears to me that Nightshade used to be a fuckload more kvlt back in the day (cause they had a bandmember called Demigod) and I suspect this is where they get the good parts from. My guess is that the guy second from left ruined everything by wanting to have his girlfriend in the band.

Némésis and Demigod should inflict upon these perpetual suffering.

5 evolutions towards suck out of 10.
